The tipperary cocktail

I was recommended to try this cocktail when I went on my trip to Ireland last year, but unfortunately did not find the time to order one while I was there.

Thankfully, I do have all the ingredients at home so I thought now was a good a time as any to try one — and it did not disappoint.

I gave it a rating of 8.4/10, however I believe I would have scored it higher if I used a bolder vermouth.

This specific recipe let the whiskey and chartreuse really shine, but it is quite dry. If that’s what you’re into, stick to a more delicate style like the Dolin I used.

Otherwise, swap for Torino or Spanish style instead for more body, sweetness, and complexity.

Slainte.

Ingredients

2 dashes angostura bitters

0.5oz | 15ml green chartreuse

1oz | 30ml sweet vermouth

1.5oz | 45ml Irish whiskey

Cocktail Directions

Combine all ingredients into a stirring vessel, add ice, and stir to chill and slightly dilute. Strain over a large block of ice in a rocks glass. Garnish with an expressed orange peel.
