Coquito

Coquito >>>
eggnog.

I was lost, but now I am found. I’ve been distracted by the allure that is eggnog every holiday season—but that ends today.

Giuseppe Gonzalez posts his recipe every year to remind people that this is the GOAT holiday cocktail, and it doesn’t even come close. While he admits if you must make an eggnog, make @jeffmorgen’s recipe.

Otherwise, you’re missing out on the magic that is Puerto Rico.

Ingredients

2 mexican cinnamon sticks

2-3 star anise pods

2-3 cloves

1 vanilla bean

1 tbsp ground nutmeg

15oz | 450ml evaporated milk

15oz | 450ml Coco Lopez

16.6oz | 500ml Puerto Rican rum (or alternate aged spirit of choice

Cocktail Directions

Crush and toast cinnamon, star anise, and cloves. Add evaporated milk and Coco Lopez to the pot. Add cut and scraped vanilla bean, along with freshly grated nutmeg.

Slowly bring to a boil, then immediately remove from heat.

Let sit to cool for 30 mins, then add rum. Stir to combine, let sit for another 30 mins.

Strain out solids, then blend to completely integrate.

Bottle and reserve in the fridge overnight before serving in a chilled glass, garnished with freshly grated nutmeg.
