bella donna daiquiri

A Vegas born Daiquiri? Sign me up.

Served in the early 2000’s at the Bellagio in Las Vegas, discovered and loved by the staff of Difford’s Guide during a trip to the Nightclub & Bar Convention in 2003. Original recipe features dark rum, amaretto, lemon juice, and simple syrup served in coupe glass with a cinnamon sugar rim.

Reading the OG specs, I wanted to help elevate it from top to bottom. Without a doubt, the most important ingredient for this daiquiri is the Amaretto—for which I chose Villa Massa, which is made with 100% real Sicilian almonds (unlike some brands).

To add complexity further, I swapped simple syrup for Licor 43, which is great to stand in for syrup given it’s delicate vanilla and spice notes; and exchanged a beautiful aged rum in place of dark rum to meet the complexity of the other ingredients.

Ingredients

1oz Aged Rum

1oz Villa Massa Amaretto

0.25 Licor 43

1oz Lemon Juice

Cocktail Directions

Combine all ingredients into a shaker tin, add ice, shake hard, double strain into a chilled coupe glass with a cinnamon sugar rim. Lemon peel expressed overtop, but discarded.
