mojito (the hard best way)

Great mojitos are earned, not easy.

Also, I need to call out the folks that will immediately start typing out a storm in the comments about the full tablespoon of sugar: not all of the sugar will integrate into the cocktail prepped like this. Inherently, some of it will be left behind, allowing a sense of play with your straw to suck up a few granules here and there—or not.

If you want to use less, use less. But I tend to like the surprise nuggets of sugar from time to time.

Ingredients

10-12 mint leaves

1 tbsp cane sugar

1 lime, cut into 8 pieces

2oz | 60ml white rum, preferably Cuban or Puerto Rican

1oz | 30ml club soda (optional)

Cocktail Directions

Combine mint, sugar, and limes in order into a collins glass. Gently press the limes into the sugar and mint to form a slurry and activate the mint.

Add in rum and crushed ice, using a spoon or swizzle stick to integrate the cocktail. Top with club soda, if desired.

Finish filling the glass with ice. Garnish with a mint bouquet.
