Time to take the gloves off.
For Round 2 of this battle against Justin (@thirstywhale_) using Empress 1908 Gin Elderflower Rose, I wanted tap into some late summer flavors while having fun with goat cheese to compliment those components.
The classic Enzoni recipe on its own would already be a smash hit with the Elderflower Rose gin considering how green grapes and the bitter Italian liqueur work together so well.
I decided to add some complexity and funk by washing the Campari with goat cheese, which not only stripped away some of the iconic color, but also tamed some of the bitterness while adding a really amazing mouthfeel. To accentuate the savory complexity, salt and vinegar were there to make it… pop.
Ingredients
1.5oz | 45ml Empress 1908 Gin Elderflower Rose
1oz | 30ml Goat Cheese Washed Campari
1oz | 30ml Lemon Juice
0.5oz | 15ml 2:1 simple syrup
3-4 green grapes
1 dash of white vinegar
1 pinch of salt
Cocktail Directions
Add grapes into your shaker tin; muddle. Add remaining ingredients, add ice, shake, double strain into a rocks glass with ice. Garnish with green grapes on a pick.
