What’s the best breakfast food, and why is it waffles?
If you remember my stay at the Whistle Pig Whiskey farm, you definitely remember the tower of waffles we enjoyed that actually used flour from the rye grown on their property.
Well, lucky for you — you can enjoy them too!
They were kind enough to send me one of their Whiskey & Waffles kits to enjoy the sweet sweet memories of my stay with them, which coincidentally gave me an opportunity to finally cook for myself and show you all I’m really ‘not just a bartender’.
Was the recipe simple? Yes. Was the old fashioned delicious? Absolutely. Could this all be yours as well? Positively.
Ingredients
3 dashes aromatic bitters
0.25oz | 7.5ml WhistlePig barrel aged maple syrup
2oz | 60ml WhistlePig PiggyBack Rye
Cocktail Directions
Combine all ingredients into a stirring vessel, add ice, gently stir to incorporate, and strain over a large block in a rocks glass. Garnish with a rye waffle — recipe for that is here :)
