high horse cocktail

When Bobby showed me an original recipe of his, I had to make it immediately. I was lucky enough to have all the ingredients on hand for this simple yet delicious cocktail.

You may recognize him from his channel @retrorecipeskitchen, but before he started making content, he was a bartender at the legendary Milk & Honey in NYC.

Before it closed, he had an original cocktail on the menu there called the High Horse. It was actually published in the New York Times at one point—and was one of Sasha Petraske’s favorites.

This needs to be on your list of Agave cocktails handy for any occasion.


 

Ingredients

0.25oz | 7.5ml grenadine syrup

1oz | 30ml lime juice

1oz | 30ml Aperol

1oz | 30ml reposado tequila

0.5oz | 15ml mezcal (for floating)

 

Cocktail Directions

Combine syrup, juice, Aperol, and tequila into your shaker, add ice, and shake. Double strain into a chilled rocks glass with a large rock. Float mezcal overtop and serve.
