el diablo
el diablo cocktail
Easily the most underrated tequila cocktail.
Created by Trader Vic in the 1940s, this cocktail uses the buck format combining tequila, creme de cassis, lime, and ginger beer. The color of the final product varies depending on the cassis you use.
The original version called for ginger ale, however, those sodas back in that time were much spicier than versions you commonly find today — so to achieve the appropriate profile, a spicy ginger beer is the perfect substitute.
I’m proud to have partnered with El Cristiano for this recipe using their silver expression, filled with notes of sweet roasted agave, coconut, and mature fruit — making it a perfect pair in this cocktail!
