easy holiday punch
easy holiday punch recipe
It continues to be the month of gatherings, so let’s go over my go to move for large groups: the Punch.
The classic punch format was likely the first form of cocktail ever: spirit, spice, tea, wine, citrus and sugar. While centuries ago they were hiding poorly made spirits, today we have access to the best ingredients.
This is a ‘choose your own adventure’ experience, allowing you to take this format and go down the rabbit hole of testing the recipe with your favorite ingredients — different teas, base spirits, and modifier additions. What adventure will you choose?
Ingredients
250g turbinado cane sugar
500ml tea of your choice (I recommend green, black, or rooibos)
200ml fresh lemon juice
300ml sherry of choice (I recommend fino or amontillado)
300ml base spirit of choice (bourbon, rum, or gin works great)
Cinnamon sticks
Lemon wheels
Cocktail Directions
In a large container, combine sugar and hot tea, then blend to completely dissolve sugar. Combine remaining ingredients in your large serving vessel or bowl of choice with ice.
Serve into small individual glasses with ice, garnishing with lemon wheels and shaved nutmeg.
