the cable car cocktail
This one was for family. Out of the many influential figures that have helped shape my career, being able to converse and rub shoulders with @mdrnmixologist has had lasting impressions and influence to how I approach my career.
The Christmas season is here, and Tony’s Sidecar riff, The Cable Car, is a MUST TRY if you’ve never had it.
As I admit in the video, I’m not a big spiced rum fan. For further admission, Captain Morgan was one of my best friends during college… with a rough but necessary break up. And while I’m not encouraging you to get back with your exes this season, reconnecting with my ole pal Morgan left me in incredibly festive spirits — so high in fact, Maria Carey herself started playing in my head without warning.

Ingredients
0.5oz | 15ml 1:1 simple syrup
1oz | 30ml fresh lemon juice
0.75oz | 22.5ml orange or dry curaçao
1.5oz | 45ml spiced rum of choice
Cocktail Directions
Combine all ingredients into a shaker tin, add ice, shake, and double strain into a chilled coupe glass rimmed with cinnamon sugar (I hit mine with a bit of nutmeg too because I’m on the naughty list).
Garnish with an expressed orange peel.
